After a long and busy summer we were able to get away for some much needed r&r in September. We were so thankful we were able to make it back to the beach to soak up the sun, play in the sand, and get splashed by the waves.
The first morning we were slow to wake and by the time breakfast came and went we only had about an hour before Max's nap. But that didn't stop us from heading out for a short walk on the beach.
Oops. Self Portrait a bit blurry.
That afternoon we headed back out, ready to play. It took Lily about an hour to get used to the water. It has been 2 years since she stepped onto the beach. But soon enough she was loving life and pretending away in the water. Max loved it as well. He would play in the sand and crawl to the water. He liked having the water wash under his hands and knees. And he never once tried to eat the sand! Score!
Since we headed out during school days, we did get some days checked off while Max was napping. I don't think there's a better way to read!
We also put together a puzzle. It's fun that Lily can help now.
We also love to eat out of the back patio. (We are so ready to find deck furniture so we can do this at home too.)
And what's the beach with out some family time on the bikes (or in the trailer)? I would love to find some bikes to do this at home too. It's just relaxing to be out in the mornings or evenings.
We also had a playdate with our first friends here in the Southeast. We hadn't spent time with them since the last time we were at the beach 2 years ago. It was great to catch up and hear how the Lord is working in their lives. The little girls had a blast at the park letting their imaginations soar. But I failed on the photo front. Must remember next time!
All in all, a great time away. We are so thankful for the opportunity to get away and be together to relax and 'just be' as a family.
