Sunday morning we headed to Dinosaur Valley State Park. It is home of some of the best preserved dinosaur tracks in the world that were discovered in 1909. We headed down to the riverbed (which was all but dry due to the droughts in Texas).
Sitting in some relocated tracks
In the riverbed
Looking for lizards
Looking at tracks
My beauty
Nope, not a track
Pre-drought this would have been a flowing river
Tracks!
We picked up 3 letterboxes while we were there.
The little kids enjoyed the wagon ride.
Most of the gang
After a picnic lunch, half left to head home and the other half decided to hike to the final letterbox. It was a 3 mile round trip trek. Max wanted to go hiking, so JD strapped him on and we were off. This is the view from the top of the hill we climbed. The steps are supposed to go into the river. Not a whole lot of water.
My boys
He found his thumb and slept for about an hour.
There's a bit of water. But don't get in it because there are crazy amoebas in the water.
The hiking crew
Fun day! But it was warm. We went through LOTS of water today.
