She sat and sat and we finally had a chance to look and found 2 beautiful eggs.
Then she sat and sat and sat and finally they hatched. When we took a look, we found 3 birds!
Ready to eat.
Over the course of watching her, we learned that there are two birds feeding the babies.
I found THIS info on Robins. Pretty interesting how God made the birds. After reading this, I learned that they only lay one egg a day. We just looked before they were all there. And the male stays with the female. He helps protect the nest, feed Momma while she is sitting, and then helps take care of the babies once they hatch. JD said that he could hear them talking to each other while he and Lily were working outside one day. Momma Robin was nervous when JD and Lily were paying attention to her.
Mom on left. Dad on right.
Unfortunately, two of the babies did not make it. Hard, hard lesson to learn for my animal loving girl. Here is the final baby just a day or two before they all flew away. It's kinda sad not having them around to watch anymore. But it was a fun lesson. Now to get some binoculars for the next time!!
