Fourteen Months

My sweet little man is just a ray of sunshine! We continued to be so blessed.

Since pictures don't always do justice, here are a few tidbits.
He has light brown hair that is in a God-given mohawk. Super short on the sides and growing long straight down the middle. He has blue gray eyes, just like his sister.  He has 6 teeth-four on top, two on bottom. His skin is olive complected, just like the rest of us. He has put on a bit of a tan this summer. He is wearing a size 3 diaper and mostly 9 month clothes (a few 12 months too).

He continues to be very alert and engaged with others around him. He is such a flirt. His newest thing is his "cheesy grin" as we have labeled it.

He isn't talking as much as I thought he was. Guess me thinking he was genius was a bit premature. Ha. But we really are noticing him repeating sounds over and over. Not sure what he is saying but he is consistent. He continues to sign (please, more, eat) and point and "uh" at everything. I am trying really hard to say the words over and over. One day he will repeat. But "uh-oh" is still out there...multiple times a day. He will also obey simple commands--drop your paci, put the blocks in the truck, and crawls toward his room to get his blanket when we say it's time to go night-night.

Chasing the flashlight

He continues to be a speedy crawler. He still hasn't been able to stand on his own, but he has been walking around while holding our hands which is some real progress for him. He also loves to push the kitchen chairs around and he does have enough balance to push his car around now.

At his weight check on the 1st he weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs 12 oz. I may have loaded him down with oatmeal before we went in. But that caused his growth curve to angle back up placing him in the 0.57%. At least he is moving up.

As I mentioned last month, we were trying to figure out what was the cause of a nasty diaper rash. We have been food journaling for several weeks, adding in new foods every few days and his hiney is perfect. We have no ideas what was going on. So we press on. I think he is putting on weight now that he is drinking whole milk 2-3 times a day (I finally weaned him at 13 1/2 months--sad day). We have added waffles and chicken pot pie to his menu, plus added back in everything that we had to take away as we were worrying about allergies.

He continues to take 2 naps a day, same as last month. And he is in bed around 8 each night. The past 10 days or so, he has decided he needs to have some loving (and sometimes a bottle) between 4-5am. It is killing this momma! I thought it was teeth and gas, but now I am starting to think it may be a growth spurt. Lord knows we need one!

Max is such a cuddly guy. I love playing with him and wrestling with him. He always crawls over and gives me lovin'--hugs and kisses. He is still a momma's boy, but he loves his daddy too and desires to spend time with him.

How can this smile not just fill you with joy?

He is such a cutie pie! And a peanut:) He reminds me so much of Kaleb...tiny and a late walker especially. Try not to worry too much. Sounds like he gets around pretty well! It can be normal to start walking close to 2 yrs old...Kaleb was 21 months. Hang in there and enjoy that adorable little guy:)
